He bought some wild wild life on the way to the stock exchange

A brief note of self-congratulation: on April 2, 2007, I told my brother-in-law, and also some random stranger on the street, to invest in Anheuser-Busch. At that time BUD stock was about $50/share.

This week the sale of Anheuser-Busch to InBev N.V./S.A. was completed for $70/share. In the intervening time, BUD stock also paid out $2.35/share in dividends (the final 37 cents of which should be received in a few weeks).

So, the investment returned about +44% in 20 months. Hurrah! In the same time period, the Dow Jones Industrials (for example) returned -35% including dividends.

My new public investment pick is Nam Tai Electronics (NTE).
